| TOP TEN TUESDAY | Top Ten New-To-Me Authors I Read In 2017

Time for another Top Ten Tuesday, a fun book meme I’ve been participating in since recently.

Top Ten Tuesday is an original feature/weekly meme created over at The Broke and the Bookish in June 2010. This feature was created because they are particularly fond of lists.
Each week they will post a new Top Ten list that one of the bloggers over at The Broke and the Bookish will answer. Everyone is welcome to join. All they ask is that you link back to The Broke and the Bookish on your own Top Ten Tuesday post and, if you want to, add your name to the Linky widget on that day’s posts (typically put up midnight EST on Tuesday) so that everyone can check out other bloggers lists! If you don’t have a blog, just post your answers as a comment. Have fun with it! It’s a fun way to get to know your fellow bloggers.

Today’s topic is one I’ve been wanting to address somewhere in January anyway so I’m really happy with this topic. I love reading debut novels and I’ve read some really really good ones in 2017. Quite a few of those debut novels made sure these authors immediately ended up on my favorites list. And aside from debut authors, I also read a lot of books by authors who were already publishing more books in the past but were new to me. So, it isn’t hard at all for me to list down 10 authors here. As usual, I have problems with choosing JUST 10 hahaha. So of course, this is yet again a list of more than 10, lol. Curious to know which new favorite authors I’ve come across in 2017? Read on!

Brooke O’Brien

Brooke is the author of the Heart’s Compass series. Book 1 – Where I found you – and Book 2 – Lost before You – were published last year and I’ve been one of the privileged ones to get to read e-arcs beforehand AND I also had the chance to do a Q&A with Brook, which you can read HERE. By reading these two books – by reading the first one already actually – Brooke made it to my favorites list immediately. She has a kind of writing that’s just so good and addictive. I’m craving more from this author!! To read my two extended non-spoiler reviews on her two books, just click the images below!

Paris Wynters

Again, an author I discovered through reading an e-arc for the author in exchange for an honest review. And I came to love this author’s writing and this story, right away. Hearts Unleashed was unputdownable to me. Loved the setting – ranch! – the presence of the dogs, the banter, and palpable attraction between the main characters, the dual POV and the way everything’s written. Everything just clicked in all the right places for me in this book. I’m looking forward to reading more by this author! Click on the image below for my non-spoiler extended review.

Abigail Strom

I got an e-arc in exchange for an honest review for Tell me and Show me by Abigail Strom – both review still have to be published on the blog; still need to read book 2 – and I’m a bit mad at myself for putting off reading Tell me for so long – there was always something coming in between, which isn’t an excuse but still – because when I started reading it; I.JUST.COULDNT.STOP.ANYMORE. I rated the book with a 5-star rating and its review will come online in the future as well. Thankfully this author already wrote a couple of other books, so I’ll definitely check them out as well. Now, I get to anticipate to read Book 2, Show me, and I’m already so excited!

Aurora Rose Reynolds

This well known Romance author, was new to me when I came across the first book in the Fluke my Life series, Running into Love. This first book in her new series was a book I enjoyed reading SO MUCH. It wasn’t extremely high on angst, like you often come across in contemporary romance, and I think because of that, I loved it even more. This is one of the most beautiful friends-to-lovers-romance I’ve come across so far! And I’m so excited to read more by this author! Book 2 in the series is coming out soon as well, so that’ll definitely end up on my Kindle soon hehe. To read my non-spoiler review on this book, just click on the image below!

Chanel Cleeton

Thanks to reading Rebecca Yarros’ Flight and Glory series I’ve become addicted to Contemporary Romance involving military/flyboys. So when I came across this Wild Aces trilogy by Chanel Cleeton, involving 3 flyboys and really interesting synopsis’, I just had to read them. So I bought the books and when I started reading the first book, I was immediately hooked and binge-read all three of them. As far as military romance goes, this trilogy has rapidly become one of my all-time favorites already and can easily match up to Rebecca Yarros’ Flight & Glory series I think – which is saying a lot, especially if you know how much I adore and love Rebecca’s Flyboys.

Jennifer Rush

I fell in love with Jennifer’s latest release ‘Devils & Thieves’ last year, which is a Young adult book with biker and magic elements. I was really intrigued by those combined elements and I’m so happy I bought this book. I ended up rating it with 4 stars, but it’s definitely one of my favorite 2017 reads! I’m really looking forward to reading the next installment! Jennifer also wrote another series called Altered, which sounds really awesome as well, so I really hope I get around to buy and read it this year. For my non-spoiler review on Devils & Thieves, you can click on the image below.

Amanda Bouchet

OMG, where to start.. This author has become so special to me, really fast. I got acquainted with her first book, a Promise of Fire, in 2016 and bought the book then as well. I’ve read it the first time around early on in January 2017 and I FELL IN LOVE HARD. I did re-reads in 2017 as well. The world and settings are awesome, Amanda’s writing is captivating and leaves me craving more every time I finish a book. She combines Greek mythology and magic with an adult romance. She writes main characters who are kick-ass and soft on the inside at the same time and the minor characters are just as lovable as well – SQUAD GOALS. There’s just SO MUCH to say about the Kingkiller Chronicles, I could write an essay on it haha. I was also one of the few who got granted an e-arc of the third book – which releases TODAY – back in September and of course, I devoured it immediately back then. And I can say this trilogy is one of my all-time favorites for a reason and you need to check out why I love them so much, for yourself! I did write an extended review of the first book, in Dutch, which still needs to be translated to an English edition so I’ll try to translate it asap. You can read it in English though by using the Google Translate button but the grammar won’t be correct – you’ll understand what it says though, but it’s definitely not translated in the right way, lol. D.K. Combs

As some of you might know, I’m highly addicted to everything mermaid related. It started out with the Little Mermaid when I was younger and I’ve always loved everything Atlantis related as well. I love everything ‘Under the Sea’ – my dream job would be becoming a Marine Biologist for example – and reading books with these elements is something I truly enjoy. Coming across this first book in a new series called the Atlanteans, got my interest right away. The synopsis sounded great and it contained an adult romance. So that combination was definitely something I’d wanted to read more of. And this book did not disappoint. It blew my freaking my mind, better said haha. This is definitely one of my favorites of 2017 and maybe ever. I’m desperate to get my hands on book 2, but there’s no information on when that book will be released, unfortunately.  a MUST BUY/READ for everyone who likes a thrilling adventure beneath the sea with really awesome ‘mermaids/atlanteans’, a swoon-worthy and sexy as hell romance that’ll leave you drooling and a really exciting story-line so amazingly well written, you can’t get enough of it. To read my non-spoiler review, click on the image below. So D.K. Combs became a favorite author of mine just by writing this book! I can’t wait to read more by this author.

Anna Banks

Another author who wrote a mermaid-retelling series and one I’ve come to love really fast as well. Like, from page 1 of the first book, lol. I’ve had so much fun reading these books, they were so awesome! I can’t wait to read other books by Anna – Nemesis is on its way right now for example – because her writing was just really great, funny at times and addictive. To read my non-spoiler review on book 1 in the Syrena Legacy, click the image below.

Adrianne Strickland & Michael Miller

You’ve probably read about my love for Young adult Science Fiction books? If not, I’ll tell you now: I LOVE YA SCI-FI. And Shadow Run, book 1 in the Kaitan Chronicles series, was so freaking awesome! I put in a pre-order for this book months before it’s release and I didn’t wait long to start reading it after it arrived and I’m so happy I found this book! Book 2 in the series, Shadow Call, is due to release in April this year and I’m soooo excited! And just by writing this book, these authors have become really interesting for me and I’m definitely planning to read more by Adrianne – she wrote another series – and Michael as well whenever he gets around to write books on his own in the future.

Claudia Gray

I didn’t read anything by this author yet until I read Defy the Stars, book 1 in the Constellation series, which published last year. This was one of my highly anticipated books back then and it blew my socks off. I loved this sci-fi book so incredibly much and 5 stars weren’t even enough I think haha. I got the first book in the Firebird trilogy this Christmas and can’t wait to start with that trilogy soon! Gray is definitely an author I’ve got a strong feeling about, a feeling saying she’ll end up one of my all-time favorite authors. Defy the stars was just absolutely amazing! To read my non-spoiler review, click on the image below.

Lesley Livingston

I’ve wanted to read her books for ages but never gotten around to buy any of them yet until I bought the Valiant last year. And that book was just freaking awesome! Female Gladiators, awesome characters, great writing skills and a slow-burning romance. Lesley’s a very talented author and I’m so ready and excited to read more books by her! She’s definitely one of the favorites in 2017!

S. Jae-Jones

I read very mixed reviews on this book, but for me, it’s one of the best 2017 books and one of my all-time favorites already: Wintersong by S. Jae-Jones. This goblin King retelling set my heart on fire. It was epic, original and so beautifully written! A killer debut novel from this author. And I’m so ready for Shadowsong, which will release next month! And I also saw she was writing a new series called Guardians of Dawn, which is an East Asian inspired fantasy series. Book 1 is due to be published in 2019. To read my non-spoiler review on Wintersong, click on the image below.

So, that were my favorite new found authors of 2017!
