So I decided to write a separate article for this one, so I could completely focus on just this; Harry Potter!
I think most of you know exactly how I feel when it comes to these magical books; LOVE LOVE and lots of LOVE! I grew up with this series from being a middle-grader into becoming a Young adult and I’ve loved them even more fiercely as an adult even. I think my love for this series only expands, even more, every year haha. I’m kind of obsessed really.. Got this great dream of someday – when I have my own bookish room at home – to start collecting every edition out there and have a completely separate HP bookcase – or a complete HP room would be better lol but that’s probably not possible hihi. I’m well on my way to achieving that already haha. I currently got two shelves filled with harry potter stuff and then I also received this beautiful gift with Christmas from my husband:
So, I was already busy collecting the first Adult UK copies but book 3 and 4 in a hardback edition is soooooo incredibly hard to find. I’ve been searching for years now and I just can’t find them anywhere. I do find the complete hardback collection which goes easily up to a €1000 for the complete set. Since I already have 5/7 books, that’s definitely not something I’m able to buy. So I have to keep hoping that someday I’ll be lucky enough to find book 3 and 4 in that specific edition so I can complete that set. I love that adult edition set soo much. I love all of the blackness with the beautiful images popping out.
But when I saw the announcement, several years ago, of these colorful YA printed editions, I fell in love hard. The bright coloring of every cover is amazing and the detailed drawings are just stunning. And the naked hardbacks are so beautiful as well, with matching colors of the dust jackets and those beautiful golden stars on them. And they all come packed in this really amazing Red box with Gold dragon details on it, it’s absolutely stunning!!! I’ve been wanting to add this particular box to the collection first when I’d ever got around to buy a complete set, and my dear husband picked up on that over the years of course and he decided to gift it to me this year, I’m so thankful!!
Aside from this beautiful box and the adult editions I’ve so far collected I’d also love to one day add the complete signature editions to the collection as well. These particular editions are also hard to come by so I don’t know if I’ll ever be able to find them anywhere but we’ll see. I’m just addicted to everything Harry Potter and I LOVE all the beautiful different editions out there and secretly want to have them all haha – I have a serious problem here folks, lol.
Anyyyyyway.. How about I show you these new beauties up close and personal? Here we go!
So, lets start with showing you guys a bit of the box. As you see on the left, it’s like I said; Golden dragon details and on the side of the box there’s the Title: J.K. Rowling, HARRY POTTER, the Complete Collection. I’m normally not always into those vibrant covers and boxes, but this one.. It’s so beautiful I think!! the Harry Potter boxes were so nicely priced over at Bol.com around Christmas. This hardcover box for example only costed €70 which is the cheapest I’ve come across it in all the years this edition is being printed. Now it’s back to €96 which still isn’t extremely expensive if you go figure there are 7 beautiful hardbacks in this really beautiful and sturdy box! It’s no cheap material, it’s qualitatively wise really good I think!

I really can’t stop looking at it, there’s so much to see! The details in the drawings are really beautiful and I love the color scheme, how everything works so beautifully with all the purple. And on the back of the dust jacket, there’s also always a drawing of one of the characters or just something you come across in the books that are important and this one starts with an owl carrying an acceptance letter! And I really like the size of these hardbacks as well. They fit so nicely within my hands, which makes reading even more comfortable.
“Your mother died to save you. If there is one thing Voldemort cannot understand, it is love. Love as powerful as your mother’s for you leaves it’s own mark. To have been loved so deeply, even though the person who loved us is gone, will give us some protection forever.”

So many fond memories of this second book in the series, which made me start loving the series even more so at the time I first read this book – and boy, that’s a long time ago lol. So many new and often dangerous adventures for Harry, Ron, and Hermione and so many new magical and awesome things for us readers to discover in this magical world. And so much more hate building for the Dursley’s hahahaha. And don’t forget; the introduction of DOBBY! Omg, just writing the name down makes my heart ache so incredibly much right now. I loved the mystery around Tom Riddle and the presence of the Basilisk; so awesome! And look at that Dobby drawing on the back #DeathbyFeels

O, I remember very well being kind of scared about Sirius Black in the beginning because he kind of is being portrayed as a bad guy and he was kind of creepily stalking Harry haha. And one thing I also remember really well when thinking about this book is the Knight Bus and it’s crazy driver haha. And the Maurauder’s Map then!! “I solemnly swear I’m up to no good”. I can keep going on and on about all the amazing stuff Rowling put into all of these books. There are just so much awesome things to be found in this world. I’m still in awe of Rowling’s writing and I’d love to get a sneak peek into her brain; her imagination. And boy, this cover.. That patronus in the woods-scene is so perfectly portrayed here I think, it’s absolutely stunning! And the Knight Bus on the back, awesome.
“He was my mum and dad’s best friend. He’s a convicted murderer, but he’s broken out of wizard prison and he’s on the run. He likes to keep in touch with me, though…keep up with my news…check if I’m happy…”

OMG yes, the Tournament! The DRAGONS! It’s one of my favorite books, this one. I love the French and Russian school that comes visiting to participate in the Tournament and the Ball-scenes are so awesome. Especially in this book, you start seeing the changes regarding the characters and their development; They are really turning into older teenagers and have outgrown their middle-grade years. They start experimenting with ‘love’, which is so incredibly cute at times. And I love all the beautiful life-lesson quotes Rowling put in the books. Aside from readers falling in love with this magical world, she also gets important messages through to especially the young readers, which is very important I think. Books can be great infuluences. And I’m again in love with the art work. The dragon and Harry avoiding the flames it spits out, it just looks awesome! And then the art of Harry, Ron and Hermione on the back. There’ll never be a friendship as awesome as the one these three experience I think.

The thickest book in the series and one of the most important ones I think as well. So much important things happening in this book revolving the fight against Voldemort and his Death Eaters. And so much development as to story-line but characters as well, I love it! Again, the art on this cover is amazing! I love the red coloring and how it all matches with each other again. And look at Snape at the back hahaha, just awesome!
“I DON’T CARE!” Harry yelled at them, snatching up a lunascope and throwing it into the fireplace. “I’VE HAD ENOUGH, I’VE SEEN ENOUGH, I WANT OUT, I WANT IT TO END, I DON’T CARE ANYMORE!” “You do care,” said Dumbledore. He had not flinched or made a single move to stop Harry demolishing his office. His expression was calm, almost detached. “You care so much you feel as though you will bleed to death with the pain of it.”

Thinking about this book gives me a lot of contradictory feelings. For me it was an amazing read and one of my favorites – but I keep saying that lol, they are all just favorites haha it’s kind of impossible to choose a favorite with these books – but at the same time it wasn’t because there are some really intense and saddening things happening in this book that crushed me! And I remember it all so very well; that time when I first read this book when it just came out. And how I was lying in my bed, reading this book and I didn’t expect in the least what was about to happen and I had to cry so so so hard. This book made a huge impact on me back then, huuuuuge. I was devastated but at the same time, it was a really great experience for me as a reader as well, to experience such intense emotions while reading a book. This is one of the most memorable reads for me, ever.
“He accused me of being Dumbledore’s man through and through.”
“How very rude of him.”
“I told him I was.”
Dumbledore opened his mouth to speak and then closed it again. Fawkes the phoenix let out a low, soft, musical cry. To Harry’s intense embarrassment, he suddenly realized that Dumbledore’s bright blue eyes looked rather watery, and stared hastily at his own knee. When Dumbledore spoke, however, his voice was quite steady.
“I am very touched, Harry.”

And then there’s this last book in the series. I got goosebumps while writing at this very moment, thinking about this book. About what this whole series just means to me and how hard it was to read this last book, the last installment. The one with which it all would end. Countless of times while reading this book – and with the rereads as well – I’ve choked up, I’ve cried my eyeballs out, felt joyful or devastated at the same time. So many emotions present while reading this book. It has been one of the best but also one of the toughest reads I’ve ever experienced. It was devastating, knowing this would be the last book in the series. None of us Potter heads were ready to say goodbye – at this moment I’m sitting here with watery eyes – and still aren’t, that’s why we keep rereading them, keep rewatching the movies and maybe even visit the Studios in London or Potter world in Orlando.
“Of course it is happening inside your head, Harry, but why on earth should that mean that it is not real?”
― J.K. Rowling,
I feel like I’m a proud member of one of the largest families out there; the Potterworld-family and it’s the Best thing to experience, being a reader. It’s not possible to describe what these books did and still do for me. J.K. Rowling has not only written about magic, but she created it for all of us and I’m so thankful for these books.
