It’s WWW Wednesday’s time! What did I recently finish reading? What am I currently reading? And what do I want to read next?

In the last WWW Wednesday – that went online on November 22nd – I told you about my finished reads of the Guild Hunter books by Nalini Singh, of the reads I was reading then which were Phobos³, Furyborn and the Empress by S.J. Kincaid and the ones I wanted to read next which were among others; Tell me and show my by Abigail strom and all the wrong chords by Christine hurley deriso.

Curious to know if I Did get around to reading those? I’ll tell you all about my past reading weeks in this WWW Wednesdays article!

I came across this WWW Wednesdays article at KarenJo’s blog recently and decided I’d really like to participate in this bookish meme as well. This meme is hosted by Taking on a World of Words. The idea behind this meme is to answer these three questions every Wednesday;

  • What did you recently finish reading?
  • What are you currently reading?
  • What do you think you’ll read next?

That way I can share my latest updates on my reading-stats in a nice way. I’m really excited to participate in this weekly meme, so here we go!

♥ What did I recently finish reading?

Since it’s been a month since I last wrote a WWW Wednesday article, there have been quite a few reads I’ve been able to finish since then. I did finish one of the books I talked about in the last www edition, which was Tell me by Abigail Strom. I absolutely adoooored this one and ended up giving it a 5-star rating! I’ll write an extended review on this book eventually – for the time being I’m just trying to take it slow with reviews on the blog since they just take so much energy for me to write nowadays – so I can give you guys a bit of an insight as to why I loved this book so much.

I’ve read an e-arc of Kasie’s West newest release Love, life and the List, which released yesterday if I’m correct! Love, Life and the list was a 4 star read for me. I’ve had some remarks on the book but overall it was a really enjoyable read. I especially love Kasie’s writing, I completely lose myself in her books whenever I read one of them.

I finished a couple of reads of books I’d have to review because I was participating in the blog tours; Mijn Verlangen by Jodi ellen Malpas (the Forbidden), Can’t get Enough by Gena Showalter (#6 the original heartbreakers) and the Heartbreak Cure by Amanda Ashby.

I also finished Beneath the Surface by John Hargrove, a book I’ve been dying to read for ages and it was a really impressive read. John tells about his undying love for Killer whales and how he experienced becoming a trainer at Seaworld. He tells his story over the length of his whole career and also about everything that happened after he decided to stop working at Seaworld because of the cruelty that was going on behind closed doors. It’s a brave story of someone who once believed he was doing everything in the best interest of the animals and openly talks about things that definitely implicate terrible things were going on behind closed doors instead. I have the utmost respect for him, being brave enough to come out into the open with this book and it was really impressive to read all of his experiences. I love how he decided to stand up against Seaworld and the cruelty of Orca’s being held in captivity and to see he now works together with people who are REALLY fighting for these animals and have their best interest at heart.

And I put in orders at Amazon and three of the books I’ve ordered that came in this month, I already finished reading lol. I’ve re-read Playing with Monsters by Amelia Hutchinsand my god, I love it so much and can’t wait for the sequel! – and I also re-read Hearts Unleashed by Paris Wynters. This debut novel was such an amazing read the first time around – I’ve read and reviewed this book earlier this year – so I definitely wanted to have a printed edition as well and I already did a re-read haha. Love the book and can’t wait to read more by this author! And I’ve read Forged in Smoke by Trish McCallan, book three in the Red-Hot SEALS series. I really loved book 1 and 2 and book three was again a joy to read! I’m craving more!

♥ What am I currently reading?

I’m almost done with Daughter of the Pirate King by Tricia Levenseller. I’ve been wanting to read a pirate book for ages now and I finally received this beauty with the Owlcrate box I ordered in the past-boxes sale. I didn’t wait long and started reading the book soon after I received the box. When I’m reading, I’m immediately inside this world; Love it! A lot of things are really predictable to me so far, but since I find the characters so interesting, the Pirates-setting and the writing, it doesn’t bother me to be honest. I haven’t even finished this book yet and I’m already looking forward to the next book by this author, Daughter of the Siren Queen!

Isn’t it beautiful?! I’ve been wanting to get my hands on these ever since they announced these editions were being published and my hubby was so kind to gift them to me this Christmas. I’m over the moon happy with them, they’re stunning!

I was also re-reading the Heart of Betrayal by Mary E. Person, in between. I’ve been fangirling about Mary E. Pearson a lot lately together with a dear friend of mine, Kaylee. I was planning to do a re-read of the trilogy anyway so when I started fangirling with Kaylee I decided to read along with her. She was almost finished with book 1 at the time, so I decided to read with her at the start of book 2. Unfortunately, after the first chapter, I haven’t been able to read much more because I want to finish Daughter of the pirate King first.

And I also started re-reading Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone because after receiving a beautiful hardcover box this Christmas, the books were just screaming at me to being read, so I obeyed like the good little fangirl I am, lol.

What do I think I’ll read next?

Well, I want to continue with my Harry Potter re-read, because it’s been TOO LONG since I’ve read the books. I don’t know if I’ll continue the Heart of Betrayal re-read because I can’t seem to focus on this book as I should be. So when I’m finished with Daughter of the Pirate King, I’ll choose a new book to read alongside the Harry Potter re-read.

Or maybe I’ll do a re-read of one of my alltime favorite series, starting with this beautiful 10th anniversary edition of the first book, City of Bones by Cassandra Clare. The possibilities are endless hihi.

And which one I’d choose? I honestly can’t say right now because even before Christmas – when I got a good amount of new books – it was hard to choose a new read, but after this month – my regular book haul and my Christmas haul – the struggles amplified by 100 or so, lol.

I’m thinking about re-reading Destiny on Ice and Resistance on Ice by S.R. Grey and then read the third book, which I haven’t read yet, Complications on Ice. But I’d also love to re-read Atlantis: the King’s return by D.K.Combs or start with the Magnus Chase series or read Goddess of the Sea by P.C. Cast or Sleeping Giants or a Mia Sheridan book or City of Brass or or or.. You get the point, right? lol.

I’ve been having struggles with finishing books lately. I’ve had this problem a while back as well. Even though a lot of the books I put aside eventually were books I was really loving, I just couldn’t get myself to finish them somehow. I still need to finish Phobos³ for example, which I was reading in November. I still need to finish a lot of reads and it really bums me out haha. I’m really indecisive so I hope I’ll get through this ‘phase’ soon, lol.

♥ What are your WWW’s?

I’m counting down the days as well already for Daughter of the Siren Queen!

And ooo, we definitely need more pirate books in the YA genre. As it is, I stumbled upon one when I was doing research for an article a couple of days ago. There’s a pirate book coming our way.. Pacifica? I guess whas the title. I put it in my Top Ten Tuesday of this week. That one sounded awesome as well.

  2. The Harry Potter hardbacks are so beautiful! <3 I am very curious about Daughter of the Pirate King. I just finished De eliminatie door Daniëlle Bakhuis and I LOVED it so much, I love reading thrillers once in a while. I don't know what to read next, I got some awesome books for Christmas so I have the choice between: Uprooted, The Raven Boys and A Gathering of Shadows.

I’m very curious to hear what you’ll think of Daughter of the Pirate King, you should definitely read it soon xD I haven’t read a thriller in AGES but I did buy a couple recently so that I could read a bit more outside of my ‘comfort zone’. When I was younger, I loved thrillers but somehow I never get around to reading them anymore now, lol.

Uprooted is still on my wishlist, I’m so curious about that one! the Raven boys sound amazing as well, still need to start with the series as well haha and a Gathering of Shadows is a book I still need to read myself as well, lol. Curious to hear which one you did pick in the end.

  3. Ik herlas Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone met kerst (de geïllustreerde editie), momenteel ben ik The little bookshop on the Seine van Rebecca Raisin aan het lezen en ik vermoed dat ik hierna Rechtvaardig vermoord van J.D.Robb ga lezen.

The little bookshop on the Seine van Rebecca Raisin klinkt heel erg leuk!

The Little bookshop on the Seine viel me jammer genoeg wat tegen en Rechtvaardig vermoord is het elfde deel uit de Eve Dallas serie. Dat is een detective-serie (moordzaken) die zich afspeelt in de toekomst en waarin het vrouwelijke hoofdpersonage en haar partner een geweldig koppel vormen.
