In the next couple of days I’ve got a lot of unboxings and hauls to show you, so I decided to start Now with the first one; my ‘regular’ December haul. As in; no Christmas stuff yet but the books I bought/received throughout all of December up until Christmas. This month is probably going to be one of the best book haul months of 2017 with Christmas and such. But aside from Christmas, I already got to add quite a nice amount of books to the collection so far! Curious to see which books I bought for myself in December and/or received? Read on! *crossed titles are finished reads*
I received this one from my friend Kaylee during our Sinterklaas-meeting @ Kwante on December 9. Ever since coming across this book, I’ve been excited to hopefully read it one day. So I put it on one of my wishlists and Kaylee ended up buying this one for me, yay! The synopsis sounds just awesome I think and I looove the cover. Can’t wait to start reading this book!
So, I’ve been collecting re-tellings for quite a while now because I LOVE RE-TELLINGS. Especially Disney retellings. Coming across Lost boy last year made me instantly crave for the book. It sounds so intriguing and I can’t wait to see what Henry did with Hook’s story! It promises to be a dark and brutal story about him being Pan’s first lost boy and becoming Pan’s greatest enemy. Can’t freaking wait to read it!
A while ago a friend of mine, Adinda, asked if someone was interested in some books she wanted to unhaul and I saw this book by Rachel Vincent and got excited right away. It sounds like an awesome read and I can’t wait to find out for myself what I’ll think of it!
The latest book in the Fae Chronicles came out earlier this year and I bought the e-book back then so I could read it IMMEDIATELY. But of course, the printed edition had to be added to the collection as well. I was able to order it earlier this month via Amazon and I already can’t wait to do a re-read of this amazing series!
Same goes for Playing with monsters, the first book in the Playing with monsters series, which I’ve already read twice in digital format, but I just HAD TO HAVE the printed edition as well. I bought this one via amazon.com so I had to wait a bit longer for it to arrive but *fangirl squeeeeel* it’s finally here and so beautiful! And I already read it this month as well haha. A bit stupid of me to do that though because now I crave for the second book so much, sigh..
I got an e-arc of this book earlier this year through Netgalley and it instantly became one of my all-time favorite reads ever! This mermaid/greek mythology re-telling is freaking amazing. It contains really awesome mythology elements, mermaid and atlantis elements, humor, adult romance, action, great storyline.. It’s just PERFECT! So I just had to have a printed edition of this book in my collection as well and I can’t wait to do a re-read really soon! And I can’t wait for it’s sequel either!! Read my non-spoiler review HERE.
This was also a book I received from the author herself to review and it blew my mind. It was such a beautiful, heart-wrenching story about an ex-soldier suffering from PTSD, looking for his working dog who was taken from him after his accident, a rancher girl who had her fair share of traumatizing events happening in the past and a really beautiful Montana setting with horses and all. Yep, I’m hooked! Loved the writing so much as well. I’m really glad to add this printed edition to the collection as well, and I already did a re-read of it, hihi.
This third book in the Red-Hot SEALS series has been on my wishlist for quite a while now. And my hubby recently got an Amazon gift card from work and decided to share it with me so this was one of the books I ordered via Amazon then. I already read it and really loved it just as the previous two books. Can’t wait to read more of this author and this series!
Receiving this one was a surprise from the Publisher. I was a participant in a couple of the blog tours they organized and already received a couple of other books from this series in particular so they decided to give me this new, and last one of the series, as well. Thank you so much @ Xander uitgeverij! I’m really excited to start reading these two new stories! I really love this series (Beautiful Bastard).
It’s no secret that I’m a fan of re-tellings and I’ve recently started to collect the Serena Valentino re-tellings, starting with Poor unfortunate Soul and thanks to Kimberley I’m now also in possession of this beauty and the beast re-telling about the Beast. First off, I love the way these hardbacks look, with those awesome images on the dust jacket and underneath on the naked hardback. The size of these hardcovers are so cute as well! They’re almost square and smaller than a ‘regular’ hardcover. But of course, in the end, it’s the inside that counts the most. I’m reallyyyy excited to read this re-telling!
I’ve been wanting to buy and read this book for aaaages now but never got around to buy it. Even though Marieke is Dutch herself and the book is published in Dutch as well, I still wanted to have the English edition because she wrote it in English before it was published in Dutch as well. Kim was selling the book and I couldn’t pass up on the opportunity to buy it from her as well, because I’m really excited to read this book and I think it’s about damn time I bought it, lol.
I remember very clearly that months and months before the release of this book, I’ve added it to my wishlist and talked about how excited I was to buy and read this book. But harsh decisions had to be made when it came to deciding which books I would pre-order and which would have to wait for a while. And I have wanted to buy the book ever since, but never gotten around to do it, so when I saw Kim was also selling it, I decided it just had to be bought as well, lol. So she packed the three books up and put them in the Christmas box she was also sending me – I did a sort of Secret Santa with her and two other book buddies and she got me – and I’m really happy I added these three books to the collection. Can’t wait to read them!
So, I received this one in the latest Fairyloot with this really STUNNING cover, accompanied with a letter from the author and a signed bookplate! I’ve had the e-arc on my kindle for a while now as well, but hadn’t gotten around to read it yet. But now I can read both digitally and the printed book – which is great for switching at night before I go to bed when I switch from print to digital reading – so that’s awesome. Really happy I got to add this book to my collection! I’ve already read good things about the book, so I’m really excited!
Ever since seeing the unboxing Annabel did on her blog which held this book – Click HERE to see her unboxing – I was so bummed out I didn’t order this owlcrate box back then, so when they did a past boxes-sale I couldn’t pass up on the opportunity to buy the box, finally! Because I was not only extremely excited about the book – PIRATES!!! freaking awesome – but there were a lot of other sea/ship items inside which were all just really amazing – like mermaid WASHI TAPE ieeeks. So I finally added this book the collection this month when the box arrived – Click HERE to see my own unboxing – and can’t wait to start reading it. And I’m also already very excited about this author’s next book in this series; Daughter of the Siren Queen, which is due to publish on February 27, 2018.
You may or may not have already read my confessions for my love for Young adult sci-fi books. But I was really excited to buy and read adult sci-fi as well, so receiving this book by Andy Weir – the author is known for the Martian, another sci-fi book that’s also made into a movie! – made me so happy! And I was even more surprised to find out the true beauty of this book on the outside but damn… I already love the dust jacket cover, but what I found underneath is just breathtaking. The naked hardback of this book is utterly unique and beautiful! And aside from the covers, the
I’ve received an e-arc of the book in November and I was really excited for this book that was published in November as well, so it was a really nice surprise to see a printed arc edition in this Illumicrate box. And the cover of this arc is just so stunning I think, maybe even more beautiful as the original cover, lol. It’s a thick book, 500+ pages so YESSS that makes me even more excited to start reading it haha.
Aside from getting to add printed editions to the collection,
I also bought several new e-books and got some through publishers
– I just can’t stop myself, lol –
And for the publishers who sent me their books to review:
Thank you so much for sending them to me.
It means the world to me that you reached out to me for reviewing your book.
I’m looking forward to reading them!

So okay; the total amount of 16 printed books was a bit surprising to me as well. I didn’t think it would be so many I already bought/received so far this month, oops haha.
And I also received a nice amount of new e-books, some of them e-arcs I received in exchange to leave an honest review on the book.
I’m really looking forward for what’s more to come this month. I just now unboxed two boxes; 1 from Kwante and 1 from Kimberley and the unboxing articles of the two will go online tomorrow. And I can already tell you there are several new books I’ve added to my collection thanks to those two ladies, as well.
So far for keeping a low profile in December, since it was already expensive, enough for Christmas and all, lol. But okay, 4 printed books were from Boxes, I received 1 from a publisher and 1 from a friend of mine, Adinda. Two other ones I got from my friend Kaylee with Sinterklaas, so that leaves 5 books I bought in between, that isn’t too bad, right? haha
