Every second Monday of each month I publish this MONTHLY MONDAY BOOK SHELFIE. This article’s idea comes from my buddy Kwante in Wonderland and since she’s back to blogging again I, of course, go along with publishing new monthly monday’s again, yay! At the time before I published the first article, Kwante asked me if I wanted to join her with this new ‘project’. After hearing what she intended to do with this article I immediately said yes because it sounded really awesome!
What exactly is the intention of this monthly Monday book shelfie?
- you tell something about your chosen book;
- How did you get it?
- Did you read it or is it still on your tbr?
- What did you think of it/what do you expect?
- And you end the article with a book shelfie!
- Kwante tells us the subject for next’s edition in her article
Hmm.. What to choose… I haven’t read a lot of scary books in the past years but I’m expanding my collection each year. So I was in doubt whether I should choose a book I already read for this monthly Monday shelfie or go with an unread book. After some more doubting, I finally decided to choose for SHUTTER because of it’s cover!
HOW DID I GET THE BOOK(S)?
I bought this book last year because I wanted it to read and review for my Halloween themed-month on the blog. I liked the fact that this book is a stand-alone. The cover is what first got my attention because it looks so creepy and is my most scary book cover in my collection I think. The synopsis sounded really awesome and the reviews I’ve read on this book were really positive as well so I bought it!
DID I READ THE BOOK(S) YET?
Unfortunately, I still haven’t read it! I never got around to read it last year but I’m determined to read it this month!
WHAT IS THE BOOK ABOUT?
Micheline Helsing is a tetrachromat — a girl who sees the auras of the undead in a prismatic spectrum. As one of the last descendants of the Van Helsing lineage, she has trained since childhood to destroy monsters both corporeal and spiritual: the corporeal undead goes down by the bullet, the spiritual undead by the lens. With an analog SLR camera as her best weapon, Micheline exorcises ghosts by capturing their spiritual energy on film. She’s aided by her crew: Oliver, a techno-whiz and the boy who developed her camera’s technology; Jude, who can predict death; and Ryder, the boy Micheline has known and loved forever.
When a routine ghost hunt goes awry, Micheline and the boys are infected with a curse known as a soul chain. As the ghostly chains spread through their bodies, Micheline learns that if she doesn’t exorcise her entity in seven days or less, she and her friends will die. Now pursued as a renegade agent by her monster-hunting father, Leonard Helsing, she must track and destroy an entity more powerful than anything she’s faced before . . . or die trying.
Lock, stock, and lens, she’s in for one hell of a week.
