The first edition of ‘Popular books I still haven’t read’ went online on August 2nd and I thought it’s about time to post the next one. In the last edition I showed 5 book(series) I still haven’t read, and today I’m going to pick up where I left of hihi.
We’ve all probably been there at one point or another.. That moment you realize you still need to read sooo many books/series almost everyone you know in the book community has already read except for you – fail. For me, it mostly isn’t a conscious decision to let popular books on the shelves for a while. Most of the time I like reading hyped books – Sarah J. Maas for example!! whoop whoop. But when reading hyped books right after it’s release date it’s probably a book of an author I’ve been reading more from already and is already a favorite of mine, elements I’m already familiar with.
Sometimes I decide beforehand I want to wait until I’ve bought all the books in a series and there are times I decide that Because of the hype around a book or an author I want to wait until the hype dies down a bit, because I often get ‘contained’ with fangirl feels beforehand when it comes to popular books and they end up disappointing me a bit because I’ve unknowingly set my expectations too high.
There are definitely quite some books/series that have been/are popular in the (Dutch) book community which I still haven’t read. I really want to read them though, otherwise I wouldn’t have bought them or put them on the wishlist of course, but I’ve just haven’t gotten around to reading them yet. Curious to see which popular books I still haven’t read? Read on..
Legend trilogy by Marie Lu
I’ve wanted to read these books for ages now but at the same time I’m scared they’re going to disappoint me. Why? I don’t know, because I’ve mostly heard great things about these books. And there’s also the fact that I just haven’t been in the right mind-set to pick Legend up yet, know what I mean? Have you read Legend? What did you think of it?
the Wings series by Aprilynne Pike
These were one of the first books I’ve bought on the bookdepository after I started reading more English. And still I have not read them yet – fail! I’ve heard good things about the books and since it has faeries present in the books, I’m extremely excited to read them because I love reading about faeries and Fae. The problem is that there’s always another book coming in between haha. Hopefully I find the time to start this series this year!
Six of Crows by Leigh Bardugo
It feels like the Grisha books are completely forgotten by most and everyone’s only talking about the Six of Crows books haha. A lot of my bookbuddies are in love with this duology and I’ve only read positive things online as well. But since I haven’t finished the Grisha books yet, I want to wait with these books. I really want to finish the Grisha books first. I looooved Shadow and Bone so much and everyone says Six of Crows is even better, so I’m really excited already to someday start Six of Crows!
Flame in the Mist by Renee Ahdieh
the Wrath and the Dawn duology became really popular, really fast. So when Renee announced a new book, Flame in the Mist, it was extremely hyped even before the book was completed. The synopsis sounds really good and this is definitely one of the most beautiful covers in my collection. But I think I’ll wait with reading this one until the second book is out there as well, so I can binge-read.
There’s just no telling when I decide to start a series I haven’t read yet I really need to be ‘in the mood’ for a specific book when I choose a new read so even though I order a book I’m exciting for I can still decide to not start reading it right away when it’s being delivered and it ends up on the shelves unread for months, lol. Do you recognize this behavior?
I’d love to hear what you thought of these popular books I still have on my TBR. And please leave a vote in the poll below to help me decide which series definitely has to be on top of my TBR. Maybe your vote gives me that last push to get my ‘head in the game’ 😉
