Every second Monday of each month I publish this MONTHLY MONDAY BOOK SHELFIE. This article’s idea comes from my buddy Kwante in Wonderland and since she’s back to blogging again I, of course, go along with publishing new monthly monday’s again, yay! At the time before I published the first article, Kwante asked me if I wanted to join her with this new ‘project’. After hearing what she intended to do with this article I immediately said yes because it sounded really awesome!

What exactly is the intention of this monthly Monday book shelfie?

  • you tell something about your chosen book;
  • How did you get it?
  • Did you read it or is it still on your tbr?
  • What did you think of it/what do you expect?
  • And you end the article with a book shelfie!
  • Kwante tells us the subject for next’s edition in her article

I got several book(series) with school settings, some of them already read and some of them are still on my huge tbr stack. First I though about using Vampire Academy for this article, but then decided to switch it with these books; THE SCHOOL FOR GOOD AND EVIL by Soman Chainani.

I can’t remember exactly when I got it – could look it up though but I’m lazy like that haha – but I remember buying it because it was on discount at this Dutch webshop at which I often buy my books from. And since the books had been on my wishlist for a while, because the synopsis sounds really awesome, I decided to not wait any longer and buy them.

Unfortunately, not yet. But I’m dying to start the first book really soon. Heard a lot of great things about the books so far, so I’m really excited. Can’t wait to see how the world building in these books are and how the story-line develops.

Since I didn’t read any of the books yet, I can’t say what I thought of them so I decided to put down the synopsis of the first book, so you could read about what the book is about as well.

The first kidnappings happened two hundred years before. Some years it was two boys taken, some years two girls, sometimes one of each. But if at first the choices seemed random, soon the pattern became clear. One was always beautiful and good, the child every parent wanted as their own. The other was homely and odd, an outcast from birth. An opposing pair, plucked from youth and spirited away.

This year, best friends Sophie and Agatha are about to discover where all the lost children go: the fabled School for Good & Evil, where ordinary boys and girls are trained to be fairy tale heroes and villains. As the most beautiful girl in Gavaldon, Sophie has dreamed of being kidnapped into an enchanted world her whole life. With her pink dresses, glass slippers, and devotion to good deeds, she knows she’ll earn top marks at the School for Good and graduate a storybook princess. Meanwhile Agatha, with her shapeless black frocks, wicked pet cat, and dislike of nearly everyone, seems a natural fit for the School for Evil.

But when the two girls are swept into the Endless Woods, they find their fortunes reversed—Sophie’s dumped in the School for Evil to take Uglification, Death Curses, and Henchmen Training, while Agatha finds herself in the School For Good, thrust amongst handsome princes and fair maidens for classes in Princess Etiquette and Animal Communication.. But what if the mistake is actually the first clue to discovering who Sophie and Agatha really are…?

the box can be found on my Box Set shelf all the way on the right, next to the Kiera Cass books
