In this article – which I want to write every Thursday – I’ll be highlighting a title from my shelf (or eReader) I haven’t read yet and I’m going to ask you guys what you think about it … Have you read it? Should I read it or put it back on the shelf?
I was looking for a new book meme article to post every Thursday and this one looked really nice. I love writing interactive articles in which you guys can leave comments and I hope you’re going to like this article and I’m already excited to read your comments on the books on my TBR I want to show you guys.
In the previous TBR Thursday I showed you a fantasy book with dragons and magic and Eastern elements. Today I got another fantasy trilogy I wanted to highlight. I bought the first two books like more than a year ago I think? And the third and last book last year when the paperback was published. It’s about elemental mages, fate and how this elemental mage girl is destined to defeat the world’s most powerful mage who happens to be the world’s worst nightmare. I’m talking about the ELEMENTAL TRILOGY BY SHERRY THOMAS.
It all began with a ruined elixir and a bolt of lightning.
Iolanthe Seabourne is the greatest elemental mage of her generation—or so she’s been told. The one prophesied for years to be the savior of The Realm. It is her duty and destiny to face and defeat the Bane, the most powerful tyrant and mage the world has ever known. This would be a suicide task for anyone, let alone a reluctant sixteen-year-old girl with no training.
Guided by his mother’s visions and committed to avenging his family, Prince Titus has sworn to protect Iolanthe even as he prepares her for their battle with the Bane. But he makes the terrifying mistake of falling in love with the girl who should have been only a means to an end. Now, with the servants of the tyrant closing in, Titus must choose between his mission—and her life.
The Burning Sky—the first book in the Elemental Trilogy—is an electrifying and unforgettable novel of intrigue and adventure.
“Combines one of the most creative magical systems since Harry Potter with sizzling romance and characters who will win your heart.” – Cinda Williams Chima, New York bestselling author of the Seven Realms series
“I couldn’t turn the pages fast enough.” – Rae Carson, bestselling author of the Girl of Fire and Thorns series
“A rich, captivating world full of intrigue, romance and magic.” – Sarah J. Maas
I don’t remember anymore when I first came across the Burning Sky – I guess when prowling online looking for new reads – but when I saw that amaaaazing cover I instantly knew I wanted to know more. The cover shows this magnificent bird of flames and shows some setting elements as well and I couldn’t stop looking at it. My first guess was that It’d be a fantasy story and I guessed right.
And I saw some awesome reviewers quotes from well known authors like Sarah J. Maas, Rae Carson and Cinda Williams Chima and that made me even more enthusiastic. I’ve got all three books on my shelves for quite a while now but I still haven’t started reading it. I picked the book up a lot of times already but every time decided to start another read instead. Fantasy and magic are one of my favorite elements in a book, but I still have to be in the mood, you know?
At the moment, for example, I’m reading a lot of contemporary romance back to back instead of fantasy because I just crave it and can’t concentrate myself on a fantasy novel with new and often extensive settings – and then there’s always the fact there are so much new books added to the shelves each month which makes choosing a new read just impossible, you know the struggle right ;)? I’ve set a goal for myself to start reading the trilogy somewhere this year because I’m still really excited to start reading this trilogy!!!!
Sooo.. now I’d like to hear if you’ve read this book and if yes, what did you think of it?
