I knew this bookhaul was going to be huge, just like previous months, but I keep surprising myself every single time when I’m writing down my Bookhaul article buwahaha. Curious to see which books I added to my collection in July? Read on and you’ll find out. Beware; it’s quite a large article, lol.
ANOTHER POSTCARD BY ELLE CHRISTENSEN (#1 Stone Butterfly Rockstars)
I’ve read this book for NetGalley and ended up loving it sooo much I wanted to buy the physical book as well. Can’t wait to do a re-read in the nearby future. I’ve also wrote an extended non-spoiler review about the book, which you can read HERE if you’d like.

THE COMPLETE WORKS OF WILLIAM SHAKESPEARE
I’ve wanted to own a complete works of WS for a long time now but didn’t get around to buy it. When I was prowling around a thrift store earlier this month I came across a beautiful English Hardcover edition for just €3 so this beauty had to come home with me right away! Haven’t found the perfect spot for this book yet, but I’m sure I’ll find one soon.
PERFECTE LIEFDE BY MILLY JOHNSON (THE BIRDS & THE BEES)
A feelgood novel I came across in the thrift store. The synopsis sounded really cute so I decided to take it home with me. Sounds like it’s a perfect summer read or just a read for in between other books. Something light, funny and romantic.
EEN HOPELOZE ROMANTIKUS & DE LIEFDE VAN HAAR LEVEN BY HENRIET EVANS (A HOPELESS ROMANTIC & THE LOVE OF HER LIFE)
I bought this book a couple of years ago for my sister when I was at a large booksale in Maastricht called BOEKENFESTIJN. I never got around loaning it from her and reading it so when I came across it at the thrift store I decided to take it back home with me. It’s a very large book since it contains two full length novels so I guess it’ll be a bit troubling with holding it while reading it, but we’ll face that problem when the time comes, lol. I love the cover tho, I think it’s really stunning!

LEVENDE STEDEN BY PHILLIP REEVE (#1 THE HUNGRY CITY CHRONICLES)
I came across this series a couple of times in the past years and the synopsis sounds so freaking awesome, that when I came across the book I couldn’t just not buy it, lol. I’m very curious to hear if any of you read something of this series and if so, what you think of it? I love the cover, there’s so much to see and makes the anticipation even higher for me.
DAWN OF THE DREADFULS BY STEVE HOCKENSMITH & JANE AUSTEN (#0.5 PRIDE AND PREJUDICE AND ZOMBIES)
It wasn’t that I was actively looking for this book but when I came across it for just €0,50 I couldn’t pass up on it. I’ve heard very contradicting things about the pride and prejudice and zombies books but I’m still really curious to see what’s all about. I love pride and prejudice and I’ve never read any zombie books. I’m very excited to see how the two things mix together.
Journey Back to Regency England – Land of the Undead!
Readers will witness the birth of a heroine in Dawn of the Dreadfuls – a thrilling prequel set four years before the horrific events of Pride and Prejudice and Zombies. As our story opens, the Bennet sisters are enjoying a peaceful life in the English countryside. They idle away the days reading, gardening, and daydreaming about future husbands – until a funeral at the local parish goes strangely and horribly awry.
Suddenly corpses are springing from the soft earth – and only one family can stop them. As the bodies pile up, we watch Elizabeth Bennet evolve from a naive young teenager into a savage slayer of the undead. Along the way, two men vie for her affections: Master Hawksworth is the powerful warrior who trains her to kill, while thoughtful Dr. Keckilpenny seeks to conquer the walking dead using science instead of strength. Will either man win the prize of Elizabeth’s heart? Or will theirhearts be feasted upon by hordes of marauding zombies? Complete with romance, action, comedy, and an army of shambling corpses, Pride and Prejudice and Zombies: Dawn of the Dreadfuls will have Jane Austen rolling in her grave – and just might inspire her to crawl out of it!
DE ROOS VAN ILLIAN BY RICHARD SCHWARTZ (#1 DE GODENOORLOGEN)
When I came across this book, the first thing that lured me in was the cover. I love purple covers and from the looks of it this book was definitely a fantasy story, which is a favorite of mine as well. After doing some research I found out that this first book of the series is a follow-up series of a previous one but I don’t think it’s necessary to have read that series before starting this one. Maybe it’ll make things easier regarding to the setting and such but from what I’ve learned, you could just start this series without having read the previous one. For just €1,88 I couldn’t just not buy this very large and thick fantasy book with an awesome synopsis, could I?
ALL THE STARS LEFT BEHIND BY ASHLEY GRAHAM
Even though the average rating on Goodreads isn’t all that good on Goodreads I decided I wanted to buy it still. It’s published by Entangled Teen and normally I love their books. The synopsis sounded really awesome and I’m a sucker for anything with sci-fi/romance elements in them. I’ve already started reading this book as well, but because I’m having trouble concentrating I already put it down and I’m hoping to pick it up again when I’m out of my slump.
Relocating to Arctic Norway would put a freeze on anyone’s social life. For Leda Lindgren, with her crutches and a chip on her shoulder the size of her former Manhattan home, the frozen tundra is just as boring as it sounds. Until she meets her uncle’s gorgeous employee.
Unfortunately, no matter how smoking hot the guy is, Roar comes with secrets as unnerving as his moving tattoos. And Leda doesn’t trust him.
Roar shouldn’t be drawn to the moody human girl with eyes that leave him weak in the knees. But when Leda gets shot by one of his enemies and survives, Roar finally understands why he’s drawn to her: Leda is exactly what he was sent to Earth to find. A weapon of immense power capable of saving his planet.
She just doesn’t know it yet.
SIX OF CROWS BY LEIGH BARDUGO (#1 SIX OF CROWS) (SIGNED EDITION!)
A friend of mine asked if anyone was interested in this book since she had two editions of them, both signed. I’ve only read Shadow and Bone so far by this author but I loved that book and thought it was epic. And since almost every reader out there has even more love for the Six of Crows books I wanted to have it anyway. But having the opportunity to get a signed edition?! so awesome!! I just needed the book, even though I still have to finish the grisha trilogy first, but who cares. A signed Leigh Bardugo edition of Six of Crows!!! I’m SO HAPPY!
Criminal prodigy Kaz Brekker has been offered wealth beyond his wildest dreams. But to claim it, he’ll have to pull off a seemingly impossible heist:
Break into the notorious Ice Court
(a military stronghold that has never been breached)
Retrieve a hostage
(who could unleash magical havoc on the world)
Survive long enough to collect his reward
(and spend it)
Kaz needs a crew desperate enough to take on this suicide mission and dangerous enough to get the job done – and he knows exactly who: six of the deadliest outcasts the city has to offer. Together, they just might be unstoppable – if they don’t kill each other first.
PUSHING THE LIMITS BY KATIE MCGARRY (#1 PUSHING THE LIMITS)
After reading Nowhere but here by Katie I fell instantly in love with her writing and I craved more. So when I finished NBH while on vacation, I immediately bought Walk the Edge, the second book in the series, and Pushing the Limits. That way I would have more books to read by Katie by the time I got home, so yay!
“I won’t tell anyone, Echo. I promise.” Noah tucked a curl behind my ear. It had been so long since someone touched me like he did. Why did it have to be Noah Hutchins? His dark brown eyes shifted to my covered arms. “You didn’t do that-did you? It was done to you?” No one ever asked that question. They stared. They whispered. They laughed. But they never asked.
So wrong for each other…and yet so right.
No one knows what happened the night Echo Emerson went from popular girl with jock boyfriend to gossiped-about outsider with “freaky” scars on her arms. Even Echo can’t remember the whole truth of that horrible night. All she knows is that she wants everything to go back to normal. But when Noah Hutchins, the smoking-hot, girl-using loner in the black leather jacket, explodes into her life with his tough attitude and surprising understanding, Echo’s world shifts in ways she could never have imagined. They should have nothing in common. And with the secrets they both keep, being together is pretty much impossible.Yet the crazy attraction between them refuses to go away. And Echo has to ask herself just how far they can push the limits and what she’ll risk for the one guy who might teach her how to love again..
WALK THE EDGE BY KATIE MCGARRY (#2 THUNDER ROAD)
Nowhere but here, the first book in the series, had me completely blown away and I think it’s my absolute favorite YA contemporary to this day. I loved it sooooo much, so of course I had to buy more of this author and this series. So when I got home from vacation this book was waiting for me as well, next to pushing the limits. At the moment – when I’m writing this article; July 30 – I’m waiting for the third book in the series to be delivered. I can’t wait to continue the series!
One moment of recklessness will change their worlds.
Smart. Responsible. That’s seventeen-year-old Breanna’s role in her large family, and heaven forbid she put a toe out of line. Until one night of shockingly un-Breanna-like behavior puts her into a vicious cyber-bully’s line of fire—and brings fellow senior Thomas “Razor” Turner into her life.
Razor lives for the Reign of Terror motorcycle club, and good girls like Breanna just don’t belong. But when he learns she’s being blackmailed over a compromising picture of the two of them—a picture that turns one unexpected and beautiful moment into ugliness—he knows it’s time to step outside the rules.
And so they make a pact: he’ll help her track down her blackmailer, and in return she’ll help him seek answers to the mystery that’s haunted him—one that not even his club brothers have been willing to discuss. But the more time they spend together, the more their feelings grow. And suddenly they’re both walking the edge of discovering who they really are, what they want, and where they’re going from here.
THE IDIOT GODS by David Zindell.
I don’t know how I came across this book but the cover was the first thing that lured me in. I’ve got a ‘thing’ for killerwhales all my life. They just touch my soul and I love these amazing animals so much. So the thought of reading a book with Killerwhale elements inside made me excited. I started reading the synopsis and decided I had to buy and read this book. I’m so curious to see what the author did with this book, and how he writes about the harsh reality of how killerhwales in captive live their life and their ‘relationship’ with mankind and fiction elements. It’s a quite large book so I really hope it isn’t going to disappoint me.
An epic tale of a quest for a new way of life on earth.
When Arjuna of the Blue Aria family encounters three signs of cataclysm, he leaves his home in the Arctic Ocean to seek out the Idiot Gods and ask us why we are destroying the world. But the whales’ ancient Song of Life is beyond our understanding, and we know nothing of the Great Covenant between our kinds. Arjuna is captured, starved, tortured and made to do tricks in a tiny pool at Sea Circus.
His love for a human linguist gives him hope, even as he despairs that other people twist his words and continue the worldwide slaughter. As the whales’ beloved ocean turns toward the Blood Solstice, the fate of humanity hangs in the balance: for if Arjuna gains the Voice of Death he could destroy mankind. But if understanding can prevail, he may, through the Whales’ mysterious power of quenching, create a new Song of Life and enable human evolution to unfold.
BECAUSE YOU LOVE TO HATE ME
A book filled with short stories written by well known authors and booktubers. Each story is a re-telling about one of the villains and I’m suuuper excited for these stories, even though my latest short story reads – Summer days and Summer nights – disappointed me. But even if these stories will disappoint as well; I still got that insanely beautiful cover to look at on my shelves because daaaammmnnn that’s one beautiful cover, don’t you think? #coverporn

DAUGHTER OF THE BURNING CITY BY AMANDA FOODY (#1 DAUGHTER OF THE BURNING CITY)
This book has been on my wishlist for months. I came across it last year when I was looking into the 2017 releases and the synopsis drew me in so when the time came the book was available for pre-order I immediately put a order in. So the book came in this month and has found it’s way onto the shelves and is now waiting to be read. I’m sooo excited for this read! I saw it was in the Fairyloot box this month, and normally the books that are inside that box are super awesome so I hope I’m not setting my expectations too high haha.
A darkly irresistible new fantasy set in the infamous Gomorrah Festival, a traveling carnival of debauchery that caters to the strangest of dreams and desires.
Sixteen-year-old Sorina has spent most of her life within the smoldering borders of the Gomorrah Festival. Yet even among the many unusual members of the traveling circus-city, Sorina stands apart as the only illusion-worker born in hundreds of years. This rare talent allows her to create illusions that others can see, feel and touch, with personalities all their own. Her creations are her family, and together they make up the cast of the Festival’s Freak Show.
But no matter how lifelike they may seem, her illusions are still just that—illusions, and not truly real. Or so she always believed…until one of them is murdered.
Desperate to protect her family, Sorina must track down the culprit and determine how they killed a person who doesn’t actually exist. Her search for answers leads her to the self-proclaimed gossip-worker Luca, and their investigation sends them through a haze of political turmoil and forbidden romance, and into the most sinister corners of the Festival. But as the killer continues murdering Sorina’s illusions one by one, she must unravel the horrifying truth before all of her loved ones disappear.
WASTE OF SPACE BY GINA DAMICO
This book was being mentioned in a whats app group of mine and I was instantly excited. The story-line sounds like it’s a blend of ILLUMINAE – Amie Kaufman & Jay Kristoff – and Phobos – Victor Dixen -, which I looooved so I’m very excited to see what this author is going to do with a story-line like this.
Cram ten hormonal teens into a spaceship and blast off: that’s the premise for the ill-conceived reality show Waste of Space. The kids who are cast know everything about drama—and nothing about the fact that the production is fake. Hidden in a desert warehouse, their spaceship replica is equipped with state-of-the-art special effects dreamed up by the scientists partnering with the shady cable network airing the show. And it’s a hit! Millions of viewers are transfixed. But then, suddenly, all communication is severed. Trapped and paranoid, the kids must figure out what to do when this reality show loses its grip on reality.
HELEMAAL HET EINDE by Lisette Jonkman
I’ve heard from several book buddies that this book was an amazing read so I put it on my wishlist right away. A while ago there was a giveaway on Hebban.nl in which I participated and while I was away on vacation I received a mail saying I was one of the lucky winners and they’d sent the book to me asap. So when I got home from vacation the book was waiting for me already, really awesome! Can’t wait to start this book!! It’ll be my first Lisette Jonkman book. I’ve heard great things about this author and I’m dying to find out for myself what I’ll think of her books. I’ve also wrote an extended non-spoiler review about the book, which you can read HERE if you’d like.

EONA BY ALISON GOODMAN (#2 EON)
I got the first book of this duology from my husband a while ago and I’m very excited about this fantasy/magic read with a sword-fighting heroine and dragons. So when I saw that the sequel was in the bargain shop at the Bookdepository for €4 I decided to buy it, even though I don’t know if I even like the first book haha. But since it was at a discount of over 50% I dared to take the risk.

When Eon’s secret threatens to come to light, she and her allies are plunged into grave danger and a deadly struggle for the Imperial throne. Eon must find the strength and inner power to battle those who want to take her magic…and her life.

IN HET WATER by Paula Hawkins (Into the Water)
I can’t even remember my latest Thriller read, because it’s been years.. But one of my personal reading goals for this years was reading more outside of my comfort zone and starting with reading thrillers again was one of those goals. So when I saw this book with a discount at a local supermarket I decided to take it with me because I read the summary and thought it would be a really exciting read. I don’t know when I’ll pick it up, because I have to be in the mood for it, but this thriller is definitely one I want to read!
A single mother turns up dead at the bottom of the river that runs through town. Earlier in the summer, a vulnerable teenage girl met the same fate. They are not the first women lost to these dark waters, but their deaths disturb the river and its history, dredging up secrets long submerged.
Left behind is a lonely fifteen-year-old girl. Parentless and friendless, she now finds herself in the care of her mother’s sister, a fearful stranger who has been dragged back to the place she deliberately ran from—a place to which she vowed she’d never return.
With the same propulsive writing and acute understanding of human instincts that captivated millions of readers around the world in her explosive debut thriller, The Girl on the Train, Paula Hawkins delivers an urgent, twisting, deeply satisfying read that hinges on the deceptiveness of emotion and memory, as well as the devastating ways that the past can reach a long arm into the present.
Beware a calm surface—you never know what lies beneath.
STIL van jou by Sophie Jackson (An ounce of Hope) (#2 a Pound of Flesh)
SAMEN – Voor Altijd En Eeuwig by Sophie Jackson (Love and Always & Fate and Forever) #1.5 en #2.5 a Pound of Flesh)
LUCKY IN LOVE BY KASIE WEST
I’ve heard many good things about this author so when I came across this book months ago when it was available for pre-order, I decided to put an order in. Since I was experiencing a big fat (reading) slump I put every book down before finishing it and then came Lucky in Love and it sounded so sweet and adorable so I couldn’t resist starting this read. And a couple of days later I already finished it. It was a really sweet, light and romantic read and I’m already looking forward to read some more of this author.

HARD TO LET GO, HARD EVER AFTER, HARD TO BE GOOD & HARD AS YOU CAN BY LAURA KAYE (#2, 2.5, 3.5 & 4 Hard Ink)
I’ve read the Hard Ink series last year and fell in love with Laura’s writing. I loveeee these books so much and wanted to add the physical books to the collection as well. I already had several of the books on the shelves and came across these 4 – 2 full length books and 2 novella’s – on bol.com for a really awesome price so I just had to buy them! Now I only have to buy 1 book and the collection is complete, yay! If you like adult romance in combination with some really sexy EX-navy seals, an exciting story-line and amazing writing this series is definitely worth buying/reading! I also adore the spin-off series of this one, Haven Riders!
Summary of book 1, Hard as it Gets:

Juniper Smoke is a smoking hot read with fun twists, dark secrets and edge-of-your-seat drama. Nothing is as it seems and no one behaves as you would expect.
Holy crap on a cracker, that’s one hell of a huge haul I got here, whooops haha. I got to add 28 physical books – 2 novella’s among them – to the collection and a lot of new e-books as well. O, I and forget the manuscript I was sent by Zomer & Keuning from their upcoming release: STILTE BY MIA SHERIDAN!
Okay, so the haul is huuuuuge, but I’m not sorry about it though hahahaha. Don’t know how I’ll ever be able to get my tbr down to 150 unread books the way I keep adding books to the collection each month, but who cares, LOL.
So many awesome sounding books so choosing a new read keeps getting more difficult every time haha. I’ve read several books this month but the most of them are on the tbr stack now, waiting to be read. I’ve read: Pushing the Limits by Katie McGarry, Walk the Edge by Katie McGarry, Helemaal het einde by Lisette Jonkman, Another Postcard by Elle Christensen, Lucky in Love by Kasie West and the Hard Ink books by Laura Kaye already. – Which book do you recommend I should read next of the collection I showed you in this haul?
What did you add to your collection this month?
