Under Fire – Scarlett Cole (#1 Love over Duty) (Contemporary romance)
Okay, so lets start this Monthly releases list with something sexy and exciting; a contemporary romance with a bad-ass former navy SEAL character. Under Fire (Love Over Duty, #1)HE CAN TAKE THE HEAT.

Hot, hard-bodied Sixten Rapp is a former SEAL who’s raring to begin his brand-new civilian life. He and his Navy “brothers” start a security firm that offers the kind of services only a team of military-trained professionals can provide. But nothing prepared Six for his new client: an innocent woman on a mission to improve thousands of lives. . . unless someone takes hers first.

Dr. Louisa North knows time is against her as she tries to create a “miracle” medical treatment for a disease with no known cure, until she creates a sample so powerful that the wrong people want to use it as a chemical weapon. At first, Six is unwilling to accept Louisa as his client. But soon he realizes that the danger is real and that there’s much more to this plain-Jane scientist…including a burning passion between them that neither of them can resist. And now that an enemy is on Louisa’s trail, Six will do whatever it takes to protect her—or die trying.

the Secret History of Us – Jessi Kirby (YA-Contemporary romance)
RELEASE DATE: August 1st

The Secret History of UsGorgeously written and emotionally charged, The Secret History of Us explores the difficult journey of a teenage girl who must piece her life together after losing her memory in a near-fatal accident.

When Olivia awakes in a hospital bed following a car accident that almost took her life, she can’t remember the details about how she got there. She figures the fog is just a symptom of being in a week-long coma, but as time goes on, she realizes she’s lost more than just the last several days of her life—she’s lost her memory of the last four years. Gone is any recollection of starting or graduating high school; the prom; or her steady boyfriend Matt. Trying to figure out who she is feels impossible when everyone keeps telling her who she was.

As Liv tries to block out what her family and friends say about who she used to be, the one person she hasn’t heard enough from is Walker, the guy who saved her the night her car was knocked off that bridge into the bay below. Walker is the hardened boy who’s been keeping his distance—and the only person Olivia inexplicably feels herself with. With her feelings growing for Walker, tensions rising with Matt, and secrets she can’t help but feel are being kept from her, Olivia must find her place in a life she doesn’t remember living.

Shimmer and Burn – Mary Taranta (YA-Fantasy)
This book has been on my wishlist since last year, when it was announced to be released in 2017. This sounds like a book that’s going to be epic and hopefully ends up being one of my favorite reads of 2017.
RELEASE DATE: August 8th

Shimmer and BurnTo save her sister’s life, Faris must smuggle magic into a plague-ridden neighboring kingdom in this exciting and dangerous start to a brand-new fantasy duology.

Faris grew up fighting to survive in the slums of Brindaigel while caring for her sister, Cadence. But when Cadence is caught trying to flee the kingdom and is sold into slavery, Faris reluctantly agrees to a lucrative scheme to buy her back, inadvertently binding herself to the power-hungry Princess Bryn, who wants to steal her father’s throne.

Now Faris must smuggle stolen magic into neighboring Avinea to incite its prince to alliance—magic that addicts in the war-torn country can sense in her blood and can steal with a touch. She and Bryn turn to a handsome traveling magician, North, who offers protection from Avinea’s many dangers, but he cannot save Faris from Bryn’s cruelty as she leverages Cadence’s freedom to force Faris to do anything—or kill anyone—she asks. Yet Faris is as fierce as Bryn, and even as she finds herself falling for North, she develops schemes of her own.

With the fate of kingdoms at stake, Faris, Bryn, and North maneuver through a dangerous game of magical and political machinations, where lives can be destroyed—or saved—with only a touch.

Okay, so.. we’ve got a YA sci-fi book over here. I’m not overly fond of the cover, because I never would’ve guessed by seeing the cover it’s a fantasy/sci-fi story, but reading the synopsis of the book made me want to add the book to my wishlist right away.

The cover was the first thing that lured me in and I already guessed from the cover that it would be a fantasy book. Perfect for fans of Sarah J. Maas and Leigh Bardugo? Count me in! A lead character fighting to become one of the Queen’s assassins… That sounds sooo awesome, don’t you think? I think so xD

Mask of Shadows (Untitled, #1)Perfect for fantasy fans of Sarah J. Maas and Leigh Bardugo, the first book in this new duology features a compelling gender fluid main character, impressive worldbuilding, and fast-paced action.

  1. I am beyond excited for Wonder Woman!! Venturess was pretty great, but I felt Mechanica was better. I recently added Wicked Like Wildfire to my TBR so I am excited about that one. I started reading an e-ARC of Mask of Shadows and it feels a little slow and slightly confusing to start. I am hoping it picks up.
