| WISHLIST WEDNESDAY | #38 Craving for Sequels.

I mostly bought completed series in the past – if a series was already completely published yet – and started reading them when I’ve had all of the books at home. But I’ve come across several series I didn’t like as much as I thought beforehand and ended up selling the series, which is such a waste of money I think since you never get the exact same amount as what you paid, even though most of the books are still brand new.

And since my book shelves are beginning to fill up again and I need to be smart about the ‘space’ on my shelves, I decided to wait with buying a whole series at once and just buy the first one instead and the rest later on.. That means I’m currently aching to get my hands on several sequels.. Some of them are already published but I’ve also got a list for sequels that have yet to be released.

  • Dare you to by Katie McGarry (#2 Pushing the Limits)

Katie has rapidly become a favorite author of mine after reading Nowhere but here and a bit of Pushing the Limits. So obviously I want more of her books, starting with the next book in the Pushing series; Dare to you.

Ryan lowers his lips to my ear. “Dance with me, Beth.”

“No.” I whisper the reply. I hate him and I hate myself for wanting him to touch me again….

“I dare you…”

If anyone knew the truth about Beth Risk’s home life, they’d send her mother to jail and seventeen-year-old Beth who knows where. So she protects her mom at all costs. Until the day her uncle swoops in and forces Beth to choose between her mom’s freedom and her own happiness. That’s how Beth finds herself living with an aunt who doesn’t want her and going to a school that doesn’t understand her. At all. Except for the one guy who shouldn’t get her, but does….

Ryan Stone is the town golden boy, a popular baseball star jock-with secrets he can’t tell anyone. Not even the friends he shares everything with, including the constant dares to do crazy things. The craziest? Asking out the Skater girl who couldn’t be less interested in him.

But what begins as a dare becomes an intense attraction neither Ryan nor Beth expected. Suddenly, the boy with the flawless image risks his dreams-and his life-for the girl he loves, and the girl who won’t let anyone get too close is daring herself to want it all….

Dare You To (Pushing the Limits, #2)

  • Torn by Jennifer L. Armentrout (#2 Wicked Saga)

I reaaaaly liked Wicked, the first book in the wicked saga so the sequel is definitely on my wishlist at the moment and I hope I can purchase it very soon. Maybe I’ll buy the e-book first so I can read it sooner. Jennifer is coming to the Netherlands in October and I’m sooooo excited to meet her, this is a dream coming true for me since she’s a favorite author of mine because of her LUX series among others. Wicked has definitely won me over as well and I can’t wait to read Torn!

Torn between duty and survival, nothing can be the same.
Everything Ivy Morgan thought she knew has been turned on its head. After being betrayed and then nearly killed by the Prince of the Fae, she’s left bruised and devastated—and with an earth-shattering secret that she must keep at all costs. And if the Order finds out her secret, they’ll kill her.
Then there’s Ren Owens, the sexy, tattooed Elite member of the Order who has been sharing Ivy’s bed and claiming her heart. Their chemistry is smoking hot, but Ivy knows that Ren has always valued his duty to the Order above all else—he could never touch her if he knew the truth. That is, if he let her live at all. Yet how can she live with herself if she lies to him?
But as the Fae Prince begins to close in, intent on permanently opening the gates to the Otherworld, Ivy is running out of options. If she doesn’t figure out who she can trust—and fast—it’s not only her heart that will be torn apart, but civilization itself.

Torn (A Wicked Saga, #2)

  • Our dark Duet by V.E. Schwab (#2 Monsters of Verity)

The first book in this duo-logy, this savage song, was an awesome read and I’m so excited to read this sequel but I’m so afraid at the same time for what’ll happen in this second book, yikes. This savage song was my first V.E. Schwab read and will definitely not be my last.

KATE HARKER isn’t afraid of monsters. She hunts them. And she’s good at it.
AUGUST FLYNN once yearned to be human. He has a part to play. And he will play it, no matter the cost.
Kate will have to return to Verity. August will have to let her back in. And a new monster is waiting—one that feeds on chaos and brings out its victims’ inner demons.
Which will be harder to conquer: the monsters they face, or the monsters within?

Our Dark Duet (Monsters of Verity, #2)

  • Managed by Kristen Callihan (#2 VIP)

I’ve read the first book, IDOl, a while ago and I reaaaaally liked this rock-star romance book. This second book in the series, Managed, sounds really awesome as well and I always love these kind of series in which characters from all previous books ‘visit’ each other in the next one as well. It always feels like coming home when I’m reading a next book in a series and I can read about previous characters as well. It’s a whole new story with some familiarity and that’s just awesome I think.

It started off as a battle of wits. Me: the ordinary girl with a big mouth against Him: the sexy bastard with a big…ego.

I thought I’d hit the jackpot when I was upgraded to first class on my flight to London.

That is until HE sat next to me. Gabriel Scott: handsome as sin, cold as ice. Nothing and no one gets to him. Ever. He’s a legend in his own right, the manager of the biggest rock band in the world, and an arrogant ass who looks down his nose at me.

I thought I’d give him hell for one, long flight. I didn’t expect to like him. I didn’t expect to want him. But the biggest surprise? He wants me too. Only in a way I didn’t see coming.

If I accept his proposal, I leave myself open to falling for the one man I can’t manage. But I’m tempted to say yes. Because the real man beneath those perfect suits and that cool façade just might be the best thing that’s ever happened to me. And I just might be the only one who can melt the ice around his heart.

Let the battle begin…

Managed (VIP, #2)

  • Shadow Call by Adrianne Strickland, the sequel to Shadow Run which I gave a 5 star rating. I absolutely LOVED shadow run so much. Sci-fi has really become a favorite genre within the YA collection and this read was really awesome. I’m aching to get my hands on the sequel which is expected to be published on April 17th 2018.

Nev has just joined the crew of the starship Kaitan Heritage as the cargo loader. His captain, Qole, is the youngest-ever person to command her own ship, but she brooks no argument from her crew of orphans, fugitives, and con men. Nev can’t resist her, even if her ship is an antique.

As for Nev, he’s a prince, in hiding on the ship. He believes Qole holds the key to changing galactic civilization, and when her cooperation proves difficult to obtain, Nev resolves to get her to his home planet by any means necessary.

But before they know it, a rival royal family is after Qole too, and they’re more interested in stealing her abilities than in keeping her alive.

Nev’s mission to manipulate Qole becomes one to save her, and to survive, she’ll have to trust her would-be kidnapper. He may be royalty, but Qole is discovering a deep reservoir of power–and stars have mercy on whoever tries to hurt her ship or her crew.

Shadow Run (Kaitan Chronicles, #1)

  • the Empress by S.J. Kincaid, the sequel to the Diabolic. I really liked the Diabolic and even though it kind of felt like a standalone book, it left some room for more. I loved the main characters and can’t wait to see what this author has in store for them in this sequel. This sequel is due to be published on October 31st 2017.

The thrilling sequel to S.J. Kincaid’s New York Times bestselling novel, The Diabolic that TeenVogue.com called “the perfect kind of high-pressure adventure.”
It’s a new day in the Empire. Tyrus has ascended to the throne with Nemesis by his side and now they can find a new way forward—one where they don’t have to hide or scheme or kill. One where creatures like Nemesis will be given worth and recognition, where science and information can be shared with everyone and not just the elite.
But having power isn’t the same thing as keeping it, and change isn’t always welcome. The ruling class, the Grandiloquy, has held control over planets and systems for centuries—and they are plotting to stop this teenage Emperor and Nemesis, who is considered nothing more than a creature and certainly not worthy of being Empress.
Nemesis will protect Tyrus at any cost. He is the love of her life, and they are partners in this new beginning. But she cannot protect him by being the killing machine she once was. She will have to prove the humanity that she’s found inside herself to the whole Empire—or she and Tyrus may lose more than just the throne. But if proving her humanity means that she and Tyrus must do inhuman things, is the fight worth the cost of winning it?

The Empress (The Diabolic #2)

  • the Defiant by Lesley Livingston, the sequel to the Valiant. The Valiant was one of my favorite reads last year. A book I started and finished within a day because I just couldn’t stop reading. It was a-ma-zing. I absolutely loved the roman setting and the female gladiators? they were epiccccc. And the romance is shbgdhjbgfh definitely swoon worthy. And Lesley’s writing style is really good as well. I met Lesley in April this year and she’s such a kind, open and awesome person and you really see that in her writing as well, her personality and that’s so awesome! I love the cover for this second book and can’t wait to read it. It’s due to release on February 18th 2018.

The darling of the Roman Empire is in for the fight of her life.
Be brave, gladiatrix… And be wary. Once you win Caesar’s love, you’ll earn his enemies’ hate.
Fallon was warned.
Now she is about to pay the price for winning the love of the Roman people as Caesar’s victorious gladiatrix.
In this highly anticipated sequel to THE VALIANT, Fallon and her warrior sisters find themselves thrust into a vicious conflict with a rival gladiator academy, one that will threaten not only Fallon’s heart – and her love for Roman soldier Cai – but the very heart of the ancient Roman Empire.
When dark treachery and vicious power struggles threaten her hard-won freedom, the only thing that might help the girl known as Victrix save herself and her sisters is a tribe of long-forgotten mythic Amazon warriors.
The only trouble is, they might just kill her themselves first.

The Defiant (The Valiant, #2)

  • Defy the Worlds by Claudia Gray, the sequel to Defy the Stars which got a 5 star rating from me. As I said earlier on, sci-fi has become a favorite element to me so I bought several sci-fi books in the past year. Defy the Stars is just as awesome on the inside as it looks on the outside. It’s about a boy who’s a machine but he’s so well developed that he’s capable of feeling and developing his brain and that element alone was so freaking amazing and well written. But the story-line was awesome as well, just as the female lead character. This book ended up giving me soo much feels and it made me crave for more after finishing it. The second book is due to be published somewhere in 2018 and I’m already soooo excited!! If you like sci-fi or want to try the genre out, I definitely recommend this one!! You need it <3

She’s a soldier.

Noemi Vidal is seventeen years old and sworn to protect her planet, Genesis. She’s willing to risk anything—including her own life. To their enemies on Earth, she’s a rebel.

He’s a machine.

Abandoned in space for years, utterly alone, Abel has advanced programming that’s begun to evolve. He wants only to protect his creator, and to be free. To the people of Genesis, he’s an abomination.

Noemi and Abel are enemies in an interstellar war, forced by chance to work together as they embark on a daring journey through the stars. Their efforts would end the fighting for good, but they’re not without sacrifice. The stakes are even higher than either of them first realized, and the more time they spend together, the more they’re forced to question everything they’d been taught was true.

Defy the Stars (Constellation, #1)

  • Shadowsong, the sequel to Wintersong by S. Jae-Jones. This is definitely a favorite book of 2017 for me. This book blew me awaaaay. It’s a re-telling about the Goblin King and I freaking loved it. I devoured this book and finished it with tears rolling down my cheeks. I’m over the moon thrilled that the author announced a sequel because for me the story definitely wasn’t finished yet even though the story in the first book gets a sort of ending. But I just need more, more, more of this author, of these characters and this world. And can we take a moment to drool over the cover? It’s just as stunning, maybe even more so, as the cover of Wintersong. Can’t wait to receive this beauty and read it! The sequel is due to be published on January 30th 2018.

The conclusion to the gorgeous and lush Wintersong duology.
“A maze of beauty and darkness, of music and magic and glittering things, all tied together with exquisite writing. This is a world you will want to stay lost in.”—Marie Lu, #1 New York Times bestselling author
Six months after the end of Wintersong, Liesl is working toward furthering both her brother’s and her own musical careers. Although she is determined to look forward and not behind, life in the world above is not as easy as Liesl had hoped. Her younger brother Josef is cold, distant, and withdrawn, while Liesl can’t forget the austere young man she left beneath the earth, and the music he inspired in her.
When troubling signs arise that the barrier between worlds is crumbling, Liesl must return to the Underground to unravel the mystery of life, death, and the Goblin King—who he was, who he is, and who he will be. What will it take to break the old laws once and for all? What is the true meaning of sacrifice when the fate of the world—or the ones Liesl loves—is in her hands?

Shadowsong (Wintersong, #2)

So, this article turned out quite larger than expected but I’m truly not sorry, lol. I hope I inspired you with these lists. If you’d even added just one of these books above I’m allready absolutely thrilled about it. I loved every first book of the series I spoke about above and can’t wait till I get my hand on the sequels. I’d love to hear what your thoughts are on the books you’ve read already.

  1. I really liked to read what you want to read next. I am so excited to read Our Darker Duet, I loved This Savage Song. I am also very curious about the second book in The Valiant series, The Valiant suprised me very much and I can’t wait to read more about the characters and the world they live in.
