I was tagged by Annemieke of A Dance with Books to do this TAG post some while ago – like April 2016, whooops. Haven’t gotten around to write it out – more like forgot it , fail.. -, until now.
The purpose of this TAG is to find a book with the color which is given And a book with the description of the color.
So you’ll have to find two books per ‘question’. It’s been quite a quest to find a match for everything but I think I did okay in the end.
YELLOW – A book that makes you Happy
STARCROSSED – Josephine Angelini. This wasn’t a tough choice for me. Starcrossed was the first book that popped up in my mind thinking about a Yellow book. I absolutely loved reading this trilogy by Angelini and hope to do a re-read somewhere this year if I find the time. I love Greek mythology re-tellings and the writing is really good, I love the romance development and the characters are so awesome!
And a book that makes me happy? Damn.. That’s a tough one because a lot of books really make me happy. I think I’ll go with the Illustrated edition of Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone since I’ve been a Harry Potter fan for ages – like 15 years now – and reading this series made me so happy and still does. The way J.K. Rowling introduced this magic world to us and developed it throughout the series is just utterly amazing. This is a series that’ll always be loved by a lot of readers worldwide, I’m sure. All the joy and everything this series brought to me, makes the books deserve this title of ‘book that makes me happy’. These books definitely made me happy and I chose the Illustrated edition for this ‘question’ because I love being able to read Harry’s story with all the beautiful Illustrations to accompany the story. Can’t wait till the third Illustrated book publishes later this year!
PINK – A somewhat Cheesy book
WILD – Aprilynne Pike. I haven’t gotten many pink books, but I think this is the most beautiful one I own; Wild by Aprilynne Pike. A series about faeries which I haven’t read yet. I’ve already heard great things about these books and can’t wait to find out for myself what I’ll think about it. Love this pink cover with the flower on it!
And a Somewhat Cheesy book? I think I’ll go with the Selection by Kiera Cass. Don’t get me wrong, I really enjoyed the books and finished the first three books within 1,5 days for example because I couldn’t stop reading. I really liked the sweet romance, but yes, it could be described as a somewhat cheesy read sometime nonetheless.
RED – A book that made you Angry
TIGER’S QUEST – Colleen Houck. This is the second book in the Tiger’s Curse saga by Colleen and I’ve only read the first book yet, but I definitely want to continue with this series because I really liked a lot of elements in the first book and I’m curious to see what’ll happen next.
I’ve tried coming up with a book that made me angry, but the more thought I gave it, the more frustrated I got because I just couldn’t come up with one. Sure, I’m often mad at some particular scene/moment in a book I didn’t want to happen, lol. But being angry with a book in general? Couldn’t come up with one. Did you ever read a book which gave you the over-all feeling of being angry? I’d love to hear which one and why!
GREEN – A book you’d love to read Outside/gives you a Summery feel
THE KISS OF DECEPTION by Mary E. Pearson. This is one of the many green books I own. The remnant Chronicles is a favorite trilogy of mine. I’ve had the pleasure of meeting Mary when she was on holiday in Amsterdam last year and she’s truly one of the most amazing human beings I’ve ever met! The kiss of deception has been one of the greatest mindfuck-reads ever and the trilogy only gets better and better. I loved hearing she was writing new stuff set in the same world and that’d we probably see some of these beloved characters in the new series as well, so yay!
A book that gives me a summery feel/love to read outside is definitely Breathe by Abbi Glines. If I’m being honest; every book I’ve read by Abbi so far is definitely perfect to read outside and gives you this lovely summery feeling. In Breathe the main character is outside a lot and on the beach as well, during her summer vacation.
BLUE – A Character you could identify with
STRANGE THE DREAMER by Laini Taylor. This was the first blue book I thought about. Isn’t it a beauty? IKR! Laini became one of my favorite authors after reading her Daughter of Smoke and Bone trilogy and I can’t wait to read this newest book, strange the dreamer. I’ve got both hardcover editions (UK and US) but I may be slightly prefer this UK edition over the gold/blue US edition..
A character I could identify with was definitely Anna from Anna and the French Kiss. It’s not that I was in the exact same position she was in, but a lot of things that happened in her story, reminded me soo much of my own time in High school and the romance drama, lol. Anna and her story felt really real to me because of the resemblances with my own life when I was younger.
BROWN – A waste of money
SHADOW RUN by Adrianne Strickland & Michael Miller. This is my latest read sci-fi book and I gave it a 5 star rating., it was really awesome! Can’t wait for the sequel. I love the cover with the brown shades in it. It fits perfectly with the mechanic spaceship stuff you also see.
Hmm, and a book that was a waste of money? I had to give this question some time, cause I couldn’t remember if I’ve ever read a book I was so extremely disappointed about that I’d thought of it as a waste of money. I seriously can’t come up with one. Did you ever buy a book that turned out to be a waste of money?
WHITE – A Book you Needed to Have but still haven’t read
ONE WITH YOU by Sylvia Day (#5 Crossfire). I absolutely loved the first books and devoured them whole when reading them. The fourth installment was a bit disappointing unfortunately and even though I really want to read the 5th and last book of the series, I still haven’t read it, whoops. Did you read and finish the Crossfire series? What’d you think of the last book then?
And a book I Needed to have but still haven’t read? Whahahaa do you have a couple of hours? Because that list is endless, lol. Since I read less books – and I reread a lot too – as I buy per month there’s a huge tbr waiting for me. So that’s a lot of books I want to read but still haven’t gotten around to. Some of the books I really Needed to have but haven’t gotten around to reading yet:
- the Seven Realms series by Cinda Williams Chima
- the Elemental trilogy by Sherry Thomas
- Mistborn trilogy by Brandon Sanderson
- the School for Good and Evil by Soman Chainani
- Legend trilogy by Marie Lu
- Strange the Dreamer by Laini Taylor
- the Star touched Queen by Roshani Chokshi
- Magonia by Maria Dahvana Headley
ORANGE – A typical Dutch book
THE BURNING SKY by Sherry Thomas. Okay, this cover isn’t entirely orange but it’s the only cover with at least some obvious orange in it, lol. I haven’t got any covers which are completely orange so I had to choose a cover which had Some orange in it. The burning sky has been in my collection for over a year now and I’ve patiently waited until the third book was out in paperback so I could complete it and then read it all at once. But even though the whole trilogy is here now, I still haven’t read it. sigh.. But I really want to!!! #booknerdproblems
A typical Dutch book? Hmm.. I would say Anne Frank but I seriously don’t own a copy of her diary-book, shame on me since I’ve read it often enough in the past. I choose SOLDAAT VAN ORANJE by Erik Hazelhoff Roelfzema then, which I bought a couple of years ago when I went to see the musical – which is absolutely amazing! It’s the story of private Erik Hazelhoff Roelzema who served in WW2 and undertook secret and dangerous trips to and from England – Holland to get messages through and such. I always like these kind of books, that let us read through the eyes of the ones who went through stuff like that, how those years in the war have been for them. And not the war-time alone is being written down. Before and after the war as well. An extended and beautiful autobiography from beginning till end. The book is also translated to English -> In pursuit of Life.
PURPLE – A book with a lot of Fantasy
ARCHANGEL’S KISS by Nalini Singh. Of course this was the first book that came to mind because it’s from one of my favorites paranormal romance series. The second book in the Guild Hunter series by Nalini Singh. I’m absolutely addicted to Nalini’s books – her Guild hunter series and the Psy-Changelings series as well – and love to reread them.
And if I’d have to choose a book with a lot of Fantasy I think I’ll choose the Fae Chronicles books by Amelia Hutchins. Fae’s, vampires, gods, witches and magic. There’s so much to read about in these books and it never gets boring. It’s very well balanced out throughout the story and just utterly amazing.
BLACK – An exciting Read
AS OLD AS TIME by Liz Braswell
And as for an Exciting read I’ll go with WILDER by Rebecca Yarros. It’s a fast paced read about a group of friends who go about doing extreme stunts outdoors and it’s an amazing thrill to read about it. The story itself, the developing romance is just as enticing as well. This is definitely a really excited read for me!
For some colors it was quite a challenge to find a suited book, like the color ORANGE. But in the end I found a match for everything, yay!
I really liked writing this Tag post, so if you’d write it yourself, let me know? I’ll come check it out and leave a comment.
