Yes, I’ve got a new unboxing for you guys! I ordered the Owlcrate June box a while back because I was sooo excited and just didn’t want to miss out on this one. I got a feeling about which book was going to be inside and it’s a book that’s been on my wishlist for quite some time now. And on top of that there was an announcement in which owlcrate said there was going to be an ‘An Ember in the Ashes’ item and an ‘A Court of Wings and Ruin’ item, so yeah: I HAD TO BUY THAT BOX, no doubt about it.
The mail man was already here yesterday but we missed each other unfortunately so I had to pick up the box at an post office today. As soon as Milan was asleep I jumped in the car and raced towards my nearest post office and picked it up. Needless to say I immediately started opening the box when I got home, with my camera close by. This months theme was:
MAKE IT OUT ALIVE!
When I open the box I come across the theme card which looks really creepy and I love it! Every item inside this box is either related to the book inside or in some way connected to the theme of this month.
The first item in the box I see is an amazing smelling bath bomb. And by amazing smelling I really mean; It smells so so sooooo good. I can’t really describe the sent but you have to take my word on it, lol. This hand-made bath bomb is an Divergent-inspired bath bomb created by Fizzy Fairy Apothecary. The bath bomb contains a charm which will sort you into one of the different factions! A friend of mine already used the bath bomb and she showed her charm and it looked really awesome! I can’t wait to use this bath bomb myself and find out what faction I belong to! – I’m so freaking excited about this item, it looks and smells amazing and I want to fill up the bath tub right now and throw in the bomb and relax for a while.. but first I’ll show you the rest of the items in this box 😉
The next item I come across is another owlcrate exclusive item; it’s an patch, you can iron onto an jeans jacket for example. This item features the red apple that Jonah discovers in the book it’s inspired from; the Giver by Lois Lowry. This patch was created by Laserbrain Patch Co. I haven’t heard of this book before. It’s supposed to be one of the most beloved dystopian novels of all time so I’ll definitely look into this book!
This next item left me breathless! It’s really stunning and I love it! It’s a magnet with a quote from an Ember in the Ashes by Sabaa Tahir. This book is one of my all-time favorites and this item is one of the reasons on the Why I ordered this box and I’m definitely not disappointed! I love this cursive font and that quote is one of the most awesome quotes that I’ve come across in the series so far. So yes, I’m absolutely in love with this awesome item! This magnet was designed by Little Inklings Designs.
This next item is really awesome and could’ve been made especially for me, lol. It’s a sleep mask with zombie eyes, I LOVE IT! I haven’t used a sleep mask before, but it could be really helpful for our upcoming vacation to Spain. There’s a lot of sunlight from early on in the day so this mask should be really helpful letting me sleep just a little longer – if Milan at least keeps quiet, lol. This sleep mask was designed by Archie McPhee.
This next item is also one of the reasons I wanted this box so badly! It’s the ‘A Court of Wings and Ruin’ item. It’s a beautiful bookmark with two different quotes -front and back- from ‘a Court of Wings and Ruin’ by Sarah J. Maas. I love love loveeee bookmarks and this one is really awesome and will get a nice spot on my ACOTAR shelf. The bookmark is of great quality and just.. hasbghjdbfghjbdfg can’t stop fangirling, lol. This bookmark was designed exclusively by Hey Atlas Creative.
I’m flabbergasted by the fact how full of amazing stuff this box is. We’ve just seen some really awesome items and we’ve still got some things left to unpack.
Some while ago Owlcrate announced they were adding a SECOND! book to this box! – this was not a joke :O – A book that’s been published by Oftomes Publishing – They’re friends with the Owlcrate people – and it’s called RISING by Jennifer Wilson. This story looks so promising!! And btw, isn’t that cover amazing?! I love the white background and the bright green of the city and the girl on top. So far, every item in this box contained green colors, so it all matches perfectly together. I LOVE IT!!
Before I continue I’ll share some more information about RISING by Jennifer Wilson… This is the first book in a new Dystopia series and seems to be loved among the readers who already read the book so far. Curious to know what the book is about? Let me share the synopsis with you..
Since witnessing her parents’ murders at the age of eleven, Phoenix’s only purpose in life has been to uphold her mother’s dying words- to be strong and survive. But surviving outside of The Walls- outside of The Sanctuary- is more like a drawn-out death sentence. A cruel and ruthless city, Tartarus is run by the Tribes whose motto is simple, “Join or die.”
Refusing to join and determined to live, Phoenix fights to survive in this savage world. But who can she trust, when no one can be trusted? Not even herself.
So, yeah.. The first of two books I encountered in this box! On with the rest..
I had a strong feeling beforehand that this particular book was going to be inside this box. This book was already on my wishlist for quite some time now and since I knew of the An Ember in the Ashes item and the a Court of Wings and Ruin item on top of my suspicion about this book, I just couldn’t let this box sail by. I wasn’t quite fond of the original cover so when I read that the owlcrate edition would get an exclusive new cover, I was really excited!! And I got to say, I’m not disappointed! On some level it’s very similar to the original cover because of the plants and island? are the same but instead of so much green they decided to use more white in the background of this cover. It’s got a really beautiful gloss as well, which I couldn’t quite capture in the photograph properly unfortunately. So yeah, here it is: THE SANDCASTLE EMPIRE by Kayla Olson! This book is published as a stand a lone book.
When all hope is gone, how do you survive?
Before the war, Eden’s life was easy—air conditioning, ice cream, long days at the beach. Then the revolution happened, and everything changed.
Now a powerful group called the Wolfpack controls the earth and its resources. Eden has lost everything to them. They killed her family and her friends, destroyed her home, and imprisoned her. But Eden refuses to die by their hands. She knows the coordinates to the only neutral ground left in the world, a place called Sanctuary Island, and she is desperate to escape to its shores.
Eden finally reaches the island and meets others resistant to the Wolves—but the solace is short-lived when one of Eden’s new friends goes missing. Braving the jungle in search of their lost ally, they quickly discover Sanctuary is filled with lethal traps and an enemy they never expected.
This island might be deadlier than the world Eden left behind, but surviving it is the only thing that stands between her and freedom.
Still not done yet? Nope.. I’m quite impressed how they got all this stuff in that tiny box, lol. Aside from the book, there was a button and an exclusive sticker sheet as well to accompany the book. And on top of that a signed bookplate and a letter from the author!
So now we’ve truly come to the end of this unboxing, lol. I’m so incredibly happy I ordered this owlcrate, my first ever owlcrate!! I loved every single item inside and it’s amazing that all of the items/books contained green colors, it looks amazing don’t you think?
On the bottom inside the box I found a card, announcing next month’s theme and guys.. it looks awesome, really! I think it’s a matching theme for a summer box and I’m really curious as to which book would be inside and what items. On the back of the card, there’s a sneak peak for an exclusive item and I think a lot of fans are going to be thrilled about this announcement..
What did I tell you, huh ? 😉 Are you excited, are you excited?! I KNOW I AM!!!
Have you ever ordered an owlcrate and/or other book box and what did you think of the contents of the box(es)?
I’ve always craved for a fairyloot subscription as well, but I can’t be too greedy, right? 😉 maybe someday, lol.
