| TAG TIME TUESDAY | Beautiful Book Covers

This tag was originally created by theheavyblanks on Youtube. Basically the whole point of this tag is to show off beautiful book covers. Since I’m a real sucker for beautiful covers, I’ve got a collection so far. I’ve already written multiple cover crush articles in which I show you my most beautiful covers, but in this tag there are several ‘questions’ in which I can show covers I haven’t showed before so I wanted to do this tag as well and also Tag other bloggers so I can get a look in their collection as well 😉

CHOOSE 5 OF THE MOST BEAUTIFUL BOOKS IN YOUR COLLECTION.

This is already a tough one because I’ve got way more than 5 beautiful books and it breaks my heart to choose haha so I chose a little more than 5 books, sorryNotsorry 😉

CHOOSE A BEAUTIFUL BOOK THAT FEATURES YOUR MOST FAVORITE COLOR.

My favorite color is purple and at first I didn’t think I’d find a cover which contains mostly this color but when I went in search for purple covers I discover I’ve got more than I thought beforehand! Look at all the PURPLE covers, so pretty <3
– Tiger’s Voyage, Goddess and Beautiful Creatures are my favorites I think when I just look at the cover. Story-wise my favorites of this stack are: Archangel’s Kiss and Goddess.

CHOOSE A BEAUTIFUL BOOK THAT FEATURES YOUR LEAST FAVORITE COLOR.

First, I had to think about what my least favorite color is.. This was a tough one since I really just like all colors, depending on my mood, lol. But I think neon colors is something I maybe even hate on covers, lol. I’ve got two books with neon colors in the cover but I haven’t read them yet so I don’t know if I like the stories yet. So I had to search for something other than neon..

Then I came across the Mara Dyer covers and I find the covers stunning to be honest because they really fit with the story inside. But, I think I find the use of the tarnished colors on the covers the least attractive in comparison to other covers in my collection. What’s your least favorite color for a book cover?

CHOOSE YOUR FAVORITE COVER OF A CLASSIC.

Oeh, that’s definitely my edition of BLACK BEAUTY! I love the black/white cover and the horse being displayed in these ‘smudges/splatters’ of black ink. So yeah, definitely my favorite cover of a classic book I own.

CHOOSE YOUR FAVORITE COVER OF A CHILDREN’S BOOK.

By chance I was already writing an article about my favorite Childhood books so I’ve got some books nearby to choose from – I picked them up from my parents a while back. They kept a lot of my books. I’ve got a lot in the attic as well, but I’m afraid the attic is so full with stuff I can’t get anywhere near my books, lol. Choosing one for this question was a bit difficult, since I don’t have all the books available for a picture right now, so I chose from the collection I had available and this is what I came up with:

Pluk van de Petteflet by Annie M.G. Schmidt.
Even now, all these years later, the stories by this Dutch author are still favorite among younger children. I always loved reading her books, especially this one of Pluk. It contains several short stories with some matching illustrations for each story.  Seeing this cover again, looking at the illustrations, brings back lots of happy memories. Memories of me already being a bookworm at a very young age

DO YOU OFTEN BUY BOOKS BASED SOLELY ON A BEAUTIFUL COVER?

Thruth be told; no.. I only buy books with beautiful covers if the synopsis sounds at least OK as well. But in general, the cover is the first thing that gets my attention and makes me ache for the book so there’s not much needed in the synopsis to make me want to but the book, lol. Some ‘cover buys’:

OUT OF EVERY BOOK THAT YOU OWN, WHICH BOOK BEST EXEMPLIFIES YOUR IDEA OF A BEAUTIFUL BOOK.

This one is so difficult to answer because it really depends on my mood as to how I review a cover/beautiful book. If I’m in the mood for a romantic/contemporary read I look for things in covers I don’t look for when I’m in need of a fantasy read for example. I really like covers which relate to the story inside, like the covers of Firstlife and Lifeblood by Gena Showalter for example. I often like really simple/abstract covers but I also really like covers with a beautiful world setting on the cover as well. So I really can’t choose a cover and just give a simple answer to this question, lol.

Some while ago I showed my most beautiful (naked)hardbacks and paperbacks. In the meantime a lot more was added to the collection, but if you’re curious to see some of my most beautiful covers from my own collection you should definitely check out those articles:

TAG, YOU’RE IT!

I love writing about beautiful book covers and just like all the previous articles which are already published, I really liked writing this tag as well. For this tag post I decided to use my SRL Canon camera – which has been locked up for like at least 6-12 months. I really loved using my camera again, so I’ll definitely use it more often from now on instead of my iPhone 6 camera.

What are the 5 most beautiful covers in your collection?

    • You’re welcome! I hated choosing too because there are so much more beautiful covers on my shelves, lol. I really love the watercolor classics of pride & prejudice, etc. Haven’t gotten them yet, but hope to someday! I’m looking forward for your article!
